Nonprofit Video Production in Pennsylvania: 2026 Guide to Giving Days, Funders and Costs
Written by our crew ✓

Nonprofit video production in Pennsylvania should be planned around the state's regional giving days and year-end campaigns: film one real story, then cut it into a 2–3 minute impact film, 30–60 second social clips and a donor thank-you, so the same shoot works for ExtraGive, GivingTuesday, a gala and your grant applications. Happy Productions makes documentary-style video for Pennsylvania nonprofits, foundations and NGOs in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, the Lehigh Valley, Erie and State College. Our Monthly Partnership is $995 a month with no contract; a single agency-produced video typically costs $5,000–$15,000.

Key facts: nonprofit video in Pennsylvania

  • One of the country's largest nonprofit sectors. Pennsylvania had 64,800 active nonprofits in 2024, including 49,000 public charities. Nonprofits employed 817,300 workers in 2022, 15.7% of the state's private-sector jobs, and paid $56.6 billion in wages (PANO 2025 Economic Impact Report).
  • A statewide association. The Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) provides training, research and advocacy for the sector.
  • Next big giving dates. ExtraGive in Lancaster County is November 20, 2026 (Lancaster County Community Foundation), and GivingTuesday is December 1, 2026 (GivingTuesday).
  • Regional giving days run all year. Give Local York (April 30–May 1, 2026), Centre Gives (May 6–7, 2026) and Erie Gives (August 11, 2026) each concentrate giving into a short window.
  • Cost. $995/month gets one directed video session a month, unlimited edits, captions and every platform size, and you own every file. The first session and video are free.

Pennsylvania's giving calendar and the videos each moment needs

Pennsylvania doesn't have one statewide giving day. It has a series of regional ones, plus long year-end campaigns. Each needs a slightly different video set.

  • ExtraGive, November 20, 2026. Billed as Lancaster County's largest day of giving, it is a 24-hour event (source). Have a 60-second story live on your profile page by early November, a 15-second teaser for the final week and a thank-you ready for November 21.
  • GivingTuesday and year-end. GivingTuesday on December 1 opens the busiest month of the year. Use one story for a launch video, a mid-December update and a "last days" cut. Our year-end appeal video guide has the full timeline.
  • Philly Gives. The Philadelphia Foundation runs Philly Gives as a year-end campaign rather than a single day; in 2025 it ran from October 29 through December 31, funded by the William Penn Foundation (Philadelphia Foundation). A two-month campaign rewards a series of short videos over one big film.
  • Spring giving days. Give Local York runs from 7 PM April 30 to 7 PM May 1, 2026 (Main Street Hanover), and Centre Gives runs May 6–7, 2026 (HOPE Fund of Penns Valley). Book production by early March.
  • Erie Gives. The Erie Community Foundation's 24-hour online event ran August 11, 2026 (Erie Community Foundation). Plan 2027 stories in late spring.

Pennsylvania nonprofit video examples

Philabundance: "Inside Philabundance Galloway Warehouse: Fighting Hunger Together"

A behind-the-scenes look at staff and volunteers sorting, packing and distributing food at the Delaware Valley hunger-relief organization. Watch on YouTube.

Why it works: it shows scale. Donors who give to a food bank rarely see the operation, and a warehouse walk-through makes a $50 gift feel connected to something real.

Philabundance: "Philabundance Hunger Relief Center"

A look at the organization's twice-weekly food distribution to its Community Partners. Watch on YouTube.

Why it works: it explains the partner model simply. Many Pennsylvania nonprofits work through networks of local agencies, and this format makes that structure easy for donors and funders to understand.

412 Food Rescue: "These are Food Rescue Heroes"

A call to join the Pittsburgh organization's volunteer "Food Rescue Heroes." Watch on YouTube.

Why it works: it gives volunteers an identity. Naming the role makes recruitment feel like joining something, not signing up for a shift. See our volunteer recruitment video guide.

Making video for Pennsylvania funders

Pennsylvania's largest foundations are regional by design. The William Penn Foundation focuses on improving the quality of life in the Greater Philadelphia region, the Heinz Endowments on prosperity for everyone in the Pittsburgh region, and the Pittsburgh Foundation on quality of life in the Pittsburgh region. Videos for regional funders should:

  1. Show the neighborhood. Kensington, the Hill District, downtown Erie. Specific places beat stock b-roll.
  2. Feature a participant, not a spokesperson. The most credible voice is the person whose life changed.
  3. Land on an outcome. Close with a result and what the next grant would make possible.

When a funder asks for a video with the application, see our grant video production service, our grant proposal video guide and the directory of grants that require a video.

How a Pennsylvania project works with Happy Productions

Most clients start with a virtual session: our producer directs a recorded interview live with a participant, staff member or donor, and our editors turn it into a finished video and its cutdowns. It keeps stories flowing between giving days without booking a shoot. See how virtual sessions work. For galas, site visits and flagship films, we add in-person production with crews from our network of 20,000+ vetted storytellers in 130+ countries. We have filmed in Pennsylvania before: our Innocence Project campaign was shot in Florida, Pennsylvania and New York and drove 228,000 views in under two weeks.

Every production includes captions, vertical and horizontal versions and full file ownership. For the full scope, see our nonprofit video production company page.

FAQ

Yes, and statewide. City-specific guides: nonprofit video in Philadelphia and nonprofit video in Pittsburgh.

How early should we book for ExtraGive or GivingTuesday?

Four to six weeks before the date. For ExtraGive on November 20, 2026, that means booking now.

Can one shoot cover a giving day and our annual report?

Yes. We plan interviews so the same footage produces giving day clips, a thank-you and an annual report video.
