Sound familiar?

The work is in Honduras. The person who has to turn it into a video is in Houston.

Latin America is where a huge share of US nonprofit programs actually run, and where the least footage comes back from.

“Totally, really smooth. I would definitely recommend working with them again. Just, like, no concerns at all. Really professional, timely.”

Mackinnon Engen, Executive Director, Watsi, on our Medellín crew

“We're living in a world where video is king. And we can't just up and travel to get the content that we need. So Happy Productions was an answered prayer that fell in our lap.”

In their words

Teams with programs across the region, in their own words.

Heifer International needed a donor delegation week in Honduras turned into films. Watsi needed a partner clinic in Medellín filmed by a bilingual crew. Worldreader needed families in Lima on camera. Here is what they told us.

Where we work

Where we work in Latin America & the Caribbean

In the past year we have produced in Lima with a local crew, in Medellín with a bilingual local crew, in Honduras with a donor delegation (dairy, coffee and beekeeping cooperatives, and a stop at Copán) and in Buenos Aires with a local videographer who captured thirty interviews in a day. On Mexico's Oaxaca coast we filmed a sea-turtle sanctuary and a night patrol, in Jamaica we filmed communities rebuilding after a hurricane, and we have also filmed in Mexico City, Puerto Rico and Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Bogotá, Lima, São Paulo or Buenos Aires? We work with organizations based in Latin America the same way: a local crew we have vetted, our producer on the brief, our editors on the cut, and distribution through the Are You Happy? audience when the story fits. Time zones are our normal.

Built for the region

What every production in the region includes

Spanish and English versions

An English version for US donors and a Spanish one for partners, from the same shoot.

Translation checked for meaning

Subtitles checked by someone who knows concentrado is animal feed, not food.

Bilingual local crews

Videographers who interview in Spanish, Portuguese or Kreyòl and brief with us in English.

Consent first

Release forms in Spanish or Portuguese, signed on a phone before the interview.

Planned around delegations

Delegation weeks, site visits and events planned backwards from the date.

You own the footage

You keep every finished file and all the raw footage.

Beyond video

What we film for nonprofits working in Latin America

One production day becomes a library: the hero film for the gala, the 45-second cut for the appeal email, twelve verticals for the feed, and the two-minute piece in Spanish your partners will actually share.

Field notes

Nonprofit video production, country by country in Latin America

Bilingual crews, Spanish-language interviews, English subtitles checked for meaning rather than words. Here is where we have actually filmed.

Delegation visit to a cooperative in Honduras
Field note

Video production in Honduras: Copán and the cooperatives

February 2026, with Heifer International and a donor delegation: dairy, coffee and beekeeping cooperatives, a feed processing plant, and Copán as the cultural stop. Everything in Spanish with English subtitles, and the translation checked by someone who knows that concentrado is animal feed, not food, the kind of error that quietly loses a funder. The week became trip recap films, per-subject documentary cuts and social carousels.

Field note

Video production in Peru: Lima

June 2026 in San Miguel and Pueblo Libre with a Lima production company: four family locations, about two hours each, crew call at 08:30. Families were not given the questions in advance. A local volunteer suggested what to look at, which guides the focus without scripting the answers. Footage was uploaded three days after the shoot, transcribed the next day, and first cuts were boarded the day after that.

Surgical team at a partner clinic in Medellín
Field note

Video production in Colombia: Medellín

July 2026 at a partner clinic with a bilingual Medellín videographer. Scripts were grouped by location so the day moved in one direction, a teleprompter was used where the client needed exact wording, and staff interviews were captured the same afternoon. The client's verdict afterwards was that it was professional and efficient, which, on a hospital day, is the whole review. We returned in October 2026 when Watsi brought donors to the clinic, and we have also filmed a homeowner's story in Colombia for Build Change.

Field note

Video production in Argentina: Buenos Aires and Quilmes

A local videographer in Quilmes captured around thirty interviews in a single day with the youngest Lions club in the district, whose president was 23. The footage was deliberately exposed dark to protect highlights, and our colorist lifted it in the grade rather than the camera burning it out on the day.

Santuario Tortuguero Escobilla, Oaxaca
Field note

Video production in Mexico: Oaxaca

December 2025 on the Oaxaca coast for SEE Turtles: a night patrol with red headlamps, a sanctuary beach, a caretaker who used to poach the nests he now protects. Twelve documentary cuts, all Spanish-subtitled with a second translation pass before release. In Mexico City our creator network filmed a dozen interviews for Search for Common Ground.

Hillside homes under tarp roofs in Jamaica
Field note

Video production in Jamaica

December 2025 for GoodPower's climate series: drone over hillside communities living under tarp roofs after the hurricane, and rooftop solar going in over the tarps.

Field note

Video production in Puerto Rico

November 2024 for Baitulmaal: on-camera interviews, including a doctor, plus b-roll, filmed on the island.

Field note

Video production in Brazil: Porto Alegre

For GoodPower's climate series our creator network filmed interviews in Porto Alegre with people whose homes were damaged in the floods.

Field note

Also across the region

Our network reaches Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and we have filmed Lions clubs in Paraguay. If your programs run somewhere we have not filmed yet, sourcing and vetting a local crew usually takes about two weeks.

Questions

Questions we get about filming in Latin America

Tap a question. Each answer comes with a 20-second video.

Is the free session really free?+

Yes. The Zoom session and the three videos our editors cut from it cost nothing. No contract, no card, and you keep every file with no obligation to buy anything afterwards. Book your free session and see your story on screen.

Book my free session →
What happens on the free session?+

You pick one person close to your work, and our producer interviews them live over Zoom for forty-five minutes while we record. Our editors then turn that conversation into three finished, captioned videos for your website, your social channels and your next appeal. All you have to do is show up, so book your free session.

Book my free session →
Do you fly a crew in, or hire locally?+

Usually not. We hire vetted local crews from our network of more than 20,000 creators in over 130 countries, and our producer directs them live on the day. Your story is filmed by people who know the language and the place, and your free session is where we plan it.

Book my free session →
Can you make Spanish and English versions?+

Yes. Interviews run in whatever language the speaker is most comfortable in, and every video ships with subtitles plus any second language you need, from Spanish and French to Swahili, Arabic and Haitian Creole. Tell us your audiences on your free session and we'll plan every version.

Book my free session →
Who can we put on camera (staff, a beneficiary, a grantee overseas)?+

Anyone whose story moves people: your director, a program lead, a volunteer, someone your program served, or a grantee overseas joining from a phone. Our producer guides every answer, so nobody needs camera experience or a script. Bring your people to a free session and we'll handle the rest.

Book my free session →
How do you protect the people on camera?+

Every shoot is planned around consent and dignity. People sign releases in their own language, we never show minors' names or identifying details, and anyone sharing something sensitive reviews it before it goes live. Your safeguarding policy always overrides ours, starting with your free session.

Book my free session →
How long until we get the videos?+

Your three free videos land in your inbox within two weeks of your session, with a simple review link if you want a change. For bigger shoots, we plan backwards from your gala, board meeting or appeal date. Tell us the date on your free session.

Book my free session →
We're based in Latin America. Can you work with us?+

Yes. NGOs and foundations from Nairobi to Manila to Bogotá work with us the same way: a local crew, our producer and our editors, with review calls set in your working hours. Your free session runs on Zoom, wherever you are.

Book my free session →
Can you use footage our field teams already shot?+

Yes. Send us the link, whether it's a hard drive from the field, a shared folder or years of workshop recordings, and we'll cut it into new videos. Pair it with fresh interviews from your free session and your archive finally works for you.

Book my free session →
Who owns the videos?+

You do. Your organization owns the finished videos and all of the raw footage, including everything we record on your free session. Use them on any channel, in any report, for as long as you like.
