The Happy People Foundation, online as the “Are You Happy?” show, is a nonprofit dedicated to sharing the stories of individuals worldwide through short-form videos and interviews. The organization’s mission is to explore what happiness means to different people across cultures, giving a voice to those who share their journey of finding joy in life’s simplest moments.
The primary objectives were to capture meaningful content at volume while maintaining a high standard of quality and engagement. Additionally, the goal was to expand social media reach and engage the audience through fundraisers and other charitable initiatives.
The strategy focused on balancing content scalability with quality. We used man-on-the-street style videos for fast-turnaround, high-volume content while still being curated to ensure it resonated emotionally while maintaining authenticity.
Within just 6 months, the initiative gained 1 million followers, and content generated 10 million views in the first 90 days. The “Are You Happy?” series saw extraordinary growth, reaching 4.5 million followers with 15 million monthly viewers. Additionally, the Happy People Foundation raised $60,000 through organic content alone, leveraging the trust and loyalty of its audience.
When Happy Productions' founder Atdhe Trepca’s "Are You Happy?" platform reached the milestone of one million followers, it marked a pivotal moment for giving back. This achievement inspired the creation of The Happy People Foundation, with its first mission being to raise $60,000 to purchase a handicapped-accessible bus for a special-needs school in Albania.
The challenge, however, was unprecedented: how do you ask an audience that has never been solicited for donations to contribute $60,000? The answer lay in authenticity and emotional storytelling. Happy Productions took a hands-on approach, traveling to Albania to meet the students and staff, documenting their stories, and showcasing the transformative impact that the bus would have on their daily lives. This deeply personal and heartfelt content became the cornerstone of the campaign.
Leveraging live streams on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, Happy Productions engaged the audience in real-time. These platforms allowed viewers to interact, ask questions, and most importantly, donate with just a tap. The seamless integration of storytelling and social media tools created a powerful connection with donors.
In just a few months, the $60,000 goal was met, demonstrating the potential of nonprofit marketing combined with authentic content. The campaign not only provided the bus but also forged a deep emotional connection with supporters, proving how impactful storytelling can drive successful nonprofit fundraising efforts.
